General Guidelines (Submit Your Work/Call for Submissions)

The Cause (Purchase/Donate)

Welcome to The Earthbound Review (a literary journal), home to Literature and Art from all walks of earthly life. What this means for our contributors is that we will consider any piece of previously unpublished poetry, prose, or visual art for inclusion in our yearly magazine. If you have a story about being late for work, we want it. If you have a poem about not having dinner ready for your spouse, we want it. If you have a sketch of a kid ditching school, we want it. In other words, we will consider anything crafted under the Sun. We, of course, ask that any profane elements in the work(s) be absolutely warranted. We also ask that vampiric, love stories be kept to a minimum. But if it's genuine horror or sci-fi, we still want it.

General Guidelines/Deadlines

All submissions must be received within the first of each year and the last of the corresponding September (01/01 through 09/30). As this is currently a one-man operation with very limited funds and time, contributors will hear back from us between April and November, with publication set for December. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, provided you inform us if your work is chosen for publication elsewhere. Artists whose work is accepted for publication in Earthbound will receive two complimentary copies. All submissions should be sent to theearthboundreview@hotmail.com with the name of the piece(s) in the Subject line. Your name should appear nowhere on the work itself but in a short bio. with all pertinent information sent as a separate attachment. Works of Literature should be in .doc format, while Art should be in .jpg format. Please do not mix and match the type of submissions you'd like us to consider, i.e. do not send in two poems and one piece of prose or any other such combination, as this will result in your work being discarded. In addition, please follow the applicable guidelines below.

Poetry

All poems should be sent as separate attachments in one e-mail. Send no more than three pieces per issue, each being no longer than two pages long. In other words, we're not looking to publish the next "The Wasteland." As far as meter and all that jazz goes, forget it. Send what you think is good. Keep the line spacing at 1.5, using the Times New Roman font.

Prose

We want your short stories, which should be just that--short. They should be no longer than four or five pages, in 12 pt. font, Times New Roman, and double-spaced. If whatever floats your boat floats ours, we'll publish it. Please submit no more than one per submission period.

Visual Art

Send your Art pieces as JPGs only (no more than three per issue). Obviously, keep the size small enough to be viewed within the dimensions of one computer monitor. We want to see it all. If we like your piece enough, we might use it for the cover.

et cetera

Send all questions and comments to theearthboundreview@hotmail.com. Good luck.
